If you believe your identity could be under threat and your credit file reveals unauthorised activity then you should immediately contact the credit reference agency where we will be happy to guide you through the next steps. Email customerservices@callcredit.plc.uk with your name and address.
You should immediately contact your lenders to alert them that your identity has been compromised and start proceedings to cancel any unauthorised lending done in your name.
You should consider adding a Protective Registration CIFAS flag to your address which will alert lenders to doubel check your address before granting further credit. CIFAS is the UK's Fraud Prevention
Service and members of CIFAS - financial services, retail credit, mail order, mobile phones etc - routinely check applications for credit or other facilites, such as insurance or mobile phones. This may be done over the telephone for a fee of £11.75, but registration must be confirmed in writing. To request Protective Registration, telephone 08700 102091 or contact care@callcredit.plc.uk.
Report the matter to the Police if you or your family become victims of identity theft. Insist the matter is allocated a crime reference number to ensure it is recorded in the national crime statistics.
